Department Department of Dermatology
Introduction The Department of Dermatology was established in 1933, when Medical School started. Under the leadership of Prof. Soon Bong Suh, a chairman of the department, more than 100 dermatologists were educated and they all became one of the leaders in the dermatology field around the country. 
 The department has performed a variety of activities for education, clinical and laboratory research, and treatment of patients with atopic dermatitis, eczema, allergic skin diseases, alopecia, psoriasis, vascular anomaly, skin cancer, acne, fungal infection, aging skin, nail diseases, bullous skin diseases, connective tissue diseasea, hereditary skin diseases and skin pigmentation. Special clinics, such as atopic dermatitis clinic, vascular malformation clinic, center for herpes zoster, skin cancer clinic and clinic for cutaneous idiosyncratic reaction to anticancer medications, have been set up in the department. In addition, the department has been working together with center for hair transplanation.
A variety of therapeutic devices, such as CO2 laser, fractional laser, pulsed dye laser, Nd-YAG laser, long-pulsed laser, I2PL, excimer laser and NB-UVB, were equipped. 
 Prof. Seok-Jong Lee¡¯s expertise is in the skin tumors, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, and vascular diseases, including hemangioma and venous malformation. Prof. Weon Ju Lee is mainly involved in skin appendix diseases, including acne and rosacea, cosmetic dermatology, including laser, cosmeceuticals and skin aging, skin pigmentation disorders, such as hyperpigmentation and vitiligo, and nail diseases. Prof. Yong Hyun Jang has expertise the psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, eczema, herpes zoster and alopecia areata. Prof. Jun Young Kim is interested in skin cancer surgery including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma.       
 Through these activities, the department has a critical role in curing patients with these diseases in the country. As to the research, the department has a longstanding collaboration with the departments of immunology, pharmacology and microbiology and produced remarkable outcome.​​
