Introduction The Division of Endocrinology provides comprehensive medical services for the local medical community diagnosing and treating a number of endocrine disorders, such as diabetes, dyslipidemia, obesity, metabolic disorders, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, and adrenal gland diseases. In particular, an institute for the research of metabolic disorders and anti-aging was established for the development of new diagnostics and innovative treatment modalities. The institute has been led by Prof. In-Kyu Lee, who is actively involved in a number of studies on diabetic complications and metabolic disorders affecting blood vessels, liver, kidney, and fat tissue in the body.
Currently Prof. In-Kyu Lee, Prof. Jung-Guk Kim, Prof. Keun-Gyu Park, and Prof. Jae-Han Jeon are leading the research team composed of a total of 50 members including three specialists, four research professors, five post-docs, and PhD students. The laboratory is running on the slogan ¡®From Bedside to Bench and Back Again¡¯, where clinicians and PhD researchers collaborate very closely in solving  important clinical issues. The research team has been fully supported by the Ministry of Health & Welfare and Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning. Recent major research projects are diabetes and complications, and we have published more than 230 papers related to them. Based on its excellent infrastructure, we have created excellent research results in various metabolic diseases ranging from diabetes, obesity and metabolic diseases to cancer metabolism and immune metabolism through collaborative research with leading researchers in the world as well as domestic basic researchers.
